Oladipo Active vs. Hornets
Friday, Jan. 22
The Magic announced Oladipo will start against the Charlotte Hornets on Friday.
Oladipo Vital to Orlando's Success
Oladipo's return provides a boost to a young Magic team that has strived to surprise this season as a playoff contender in the Eastern Conference.
The former Indiana Hoosier scored 17.9 points, dished out 4.1 assists and recorded 4.2 rebounds per game last season as an explosive playmaker who can hit from three-point range, get out in transition and attack the rim in half-court situations. Thus far, he is averaging 13.5 points, 4.0 assists and 4.9 rebounds per game in the 2015-16 campaign.
While Oladipo has a high ceiling on the offensive side, perhaps his best trait is his defense because he is quick enough to match up with point guards and big enough at 6’4” to defend opposing shooting guards. What’s more, Oladipo proved particularly durable early in his career and played 80 games as a rookie and 72 games in his second season.
The Magic have a deep backcourt, but Oladipo's return allows them to compete for a playoff shot.
