  • Devon Conway is a New Zealand-South African cricketer who plays in the New Zealand cricket team. Devon started his cricket journey when he was studying at St. Johns College. He represented the college team and in the year 2009, he graduated from college and he was selected in the Gauteng cricket team.
  • Devon Conway’s father, Denton Conway was a soccer coach. In August 2015, Devon became a part of the Gauteng’s team for the 2015 Africa T20 Cup.
  • In 2017, Devon Conway scored a maiden first-class double-century for Gauteng at the provincial level. This was his first century in the eight years of professional cricket. However, things were not going well for him at the top-tier franchise cricket as he performed poorly with the 12 matches he played for the Lions.   • After his unsatisfactory performance, Devon decided to move to New Zealand to work on his skills in cricket as his game was not improving in South Africa. In 2018, Devon moved to New Zealand with his fiance, Kim Watson. Devon had to sell all his belongings in South Africa because he was afraid that he would end up with thoughts of moving back if his performance didn’t improve in New Zealand.
  • In 2018, Devon was awarded a contract with Wellington for the 2018-2019 season in New Zealand. In the second round of the 2018-2019 Plunket Shield Season, Devon scored a double century against Otago. Since then, he was unstoppable as he became the leading run-scorer in the 2018-2019 Super Smash season and in the 2018-2019 Plunket Shield season with 363 runs and 659 runs respectively.
  • Since then, Devon had a streak of great performances with high scores. In October 2019, Devon scored an unbeaten 327 runs for Wellington against Canterbury making it the ninth triple century in first-class cricket in New Zealand.   • After moving to New Zealand, Devon joined Victoria University Cricket Club in a dual capacity – as a player and a coach. Devon would travel around Wellington, going to different schools to train 10 and 11-year-olds. He used to work 28 hours a week and for the rest, he used to practice in the club.
  • Devon’s performance over the years and his batting skills helped him take his place in the New Zealand A cricket team in November 2020. Selector Gavin Larsen informed Devon that he was selected in the New Zealand cricket team to practice against the touring West Indies team.
